Terms of Service

Last updated: September 30, 2026

1. Agreement to Terms

By accessing or using Disaster Inventory, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use our service.

2. Description of Service

Disaster Inventory is a video analysis platform that helps users create itemized property inventories for insurance purposes. We use AI-assisted object detection to identify and catalog items from videos you upload.

3. Your Account

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You must notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account.

4. Your Content

You retain ownership of all videos and content you upload. By uploading content, you grant us a limited license to process and analyze it solely for the purpose of generating your inventory. We do not sell your content. We share it only with the service providers that help us run Disaster Inventory, as described in our Privacy Policy, and when the law requires it.

5. Payment and Access Period

Your plan is a one-time, non-recurring purchase that provides a 30-day access period to build your inventory for a single property. It is not a subscription: it does not automatically renew, we do not keep your card on file, and we will not charge you again. Payment is required before your videos are processed.

Your access period begins when your payment is made and ends 30 days later. When it ends, access stops and no further videos can be processed. All payments are processed by our payment provider. Your full card number and security code go directly to them and never pass through our servers. We keep only the card brand and last four digits as a record of your payment.

6. Fair Use

Your plan includes unlimited videos for documenting one home during your 30-day access period. A typical home, even a large one filmed room by room with several videos per room, will not come close to any limit. “Unlimited” is subject to this fair use policy.

The plan is for one household documenting the home it lives in or owns. It is not for:

  • automated or scripted uploading;
  • commercial use, such as documenting properties for clients, tenants or customers, or reselling access to the service or its results;
  • sharing one account across more than one household or property;
  • uploading anything other than footage of the covered property, or uploading in order to test, overload or misuse the service;
  • fraud, including a purchase made with a payment method you are not authorized to use.

We look at the number of videos, the total minutes of video, and the total amount of data uploaded. If your use goes well beyond what a typical home needs, or looks like one of the uses above, we may limit, queue, slow or pause the processing of new videos. In cases of fraud or misuse, we may stop processing and close the account.

Where we reasonably can, we will email you at the address on your account before we limit or pause processing, tell you why, and give you a way to reply. Videos we have already processed stay in your inventory, and your export remains yours.

We will never charge you more than the price you paid because of this policy. If we pause processing and you have not broken these Terms, we will extend your access period by the length of the pause. If we stop processing for fraud or misuse, we may close the account without a refund, except where the law requires one.

7. Delivery of Your Inventory

During your access period you can download your inventory as a spreadsheet, and as a PDF report, from your account as often as you like. Please save your own copy before your access period ends, because access stops then. No new videos can be processed after your access period ends.

8. Refunds

You may request a full refund at any time before your first video is processed. Once processing has begun, refunds are limited and may not be available, because processing consumes the compute your purchase pays for. Any refund we issue ends your access immediately. To request a refund, contact support@disasterinventory.com.

9. Your Original Footage and Integrity Records

You must record and keep your own original video. We process a copy of your footage to produce your inventory, and we never return the original footage to you — only the processed results. We do not place your footage under a legal hold or maintain it in immutable long-term storage on your behalf.

10. Data Retention and Deletion

Your uploaded video stays available for your whole access period, so you can review it and capture any item the AI missed. Its job is done when your access period ends, so we remove it the day after, and once removed it cannot be brought back. We keep a copy of your finished inventory (the spreadsheet and the PDF) for about 150 days after your access period ends, and then delete it. Please download and keep your own copy before your access period ends, somewhere safe, away from your home. We keep your billing details for about 180 days after your purchase, security and access logs for about 12 months, and a basic record of your purchase (what you bought, when, and how much you paid) for about 7 years for tax and accounting purposes. See our Privacy Policy for more detail on how your data is handled.

11. AI Accuracy, Disclaimers, and Limitation of Liability

Disaster Inventory is provided “as is.” Object detection is AI-assisted and can miss items, misidentify items, and estimate replacement costs imprecisely. You are responsible for reviewing and correcting your inventory before relying on it or submitting it to any third party.

Disaster Inventory is a documentation tool. We are not an insurer, appraiser, or adjuster; the replacement-cost figures are estimates and are not an appraisal or a valuation; and nothing on this platform is a guarantee of insurance coverage or of any claim outcome. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for decisions made in reliance on AI-generated inventory items.
